Upon injection, a jet stream is produced, and medication is dispersed through a micro-orifice in the skin, reducing the pain and hazards of needles. The needle-free technology is in trials to compare its performance through immunogenicity assessments versus conventional hypodermic needles via a COVID-19 booster dose, and to investigate its safety, tolerability, and acceptability for administering a COVID-19 vaccine in children.
